This scholarship is for United State females who are in the Los Angeles area. They must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and be enrolled in a transportation related field. The fields include, but not limited to:
- Planning
- Finance logistics
- Environmental planning
- Transportation engineering
This is a great location based scholarship for females with great grade point averages!
ABA Academic Merit Scholarship
This scholarship is open to all students. You must have finished at least one year at an accredited United States university. You also must have declared a major that is relevant in the travel or tourism industry. Lastly, you need to have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.4.
The Gates Scholarship
This scholarship is a full ride scholarship for high merit studentsof a minority. The scholarship is given to 300 students that show they are the top of the pack by their grade point averages, SAT/ACT scores, and extracurricular activities. Students who are selected will receive the full cost of attendance not already covered by predetermined federal student aid. To be eligible, students must be:
- A high school senior
- Pell Grant Eligible
- From one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American
- In good standing with a minimum 3.3 grade point average
- A United States Citizen
Ideally, according to the website, the applicant chosen will:
- Demonstrate leadership in multiple areas (community service, sports, and other extracurricular activities)
- Outstanding academic record, including top 10% in high school class
- Personal success skills (perseverance, motivation, leadership, maturity)
In-University Merit Scholarships
Most colleges have merit scholarships you can apply for if you meet the minimum test and grade point average scores. For example, a university might offer a Trustee Scholarship, which to be eligible, a student must have a 3.5 grade point average, as well as an ACT score of 28 or better.
